Before entering the world of aesthetics, I had no idea what it meant to take care of my skin. As I began training at Couture Med Spa and working with skincare products, lasers, and injectables, I had no idea where to start so I figured I could try it all. All I knew was that taking better care of my skin needed to be a priority.

Anyone that I’ve met with gorgeous skin has invested time and energy into caring for it!

In this blog, you’ll learn about my love for the Palomar fractional laser and what it has done for my anti-aging regimen! The versatility of the laser and all its various functions is what I love most. It has helped boost my collagen, smooth over my stretch marks, and helped with the crepey textured skin on my hands, which has always been an insecurity of mine.

But some of you may be asking, “What the heck is a fractional laser?” Learn more about our fractional laser treatment.

A fractional laser is a non-ablative resurfacing and soft tissue coagulation technology for the skin. This laser uses micro-beam energy that bypasses through the top layer of the skin into the deep dermal layer of the skin.

In plain English, it stimulates collagen leading to skin tightening and resurfacing.

Here at Couture Med Spa, both the Platinum membership and the Black Diamond membership include this treatment each month…along with several other services! It helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, acne scarring, stretch marks, and surgical scars. The treatment is done in about 5 minutes with little to no downtime. There is very little discomfort felt during the treatment because we use a topical numbing cream applied about an hour before we get started. It generally requires 3-6 treatments on a specific area with each treatment spaced 4 weeks apart. But as I said, I wasn’t always so “in tune” with caring for my skin.

I must confess that before I started working for Couture Med Spa, I did all the unthinkable taboos in the skincare industry.

I loved my St. Ives Scrub, I put toothpaste on my pimples, I lived for my dial soap cleanser, and I only used sunscreen when I went to the beach. I already know Lindsay, Couture’s brilliant aesthetician, is CRINGING reading this!

Learning how to take care of your skin is a process. And as I became more knowledgeable about skincare and all the services Couture offers, I realized very quickly I needed to change my regime ASAP. I first started with Couture’s medical-grade skin products, then I dabbled with each of our lasers, and lastly, I jumped onboard the Dysport and filler train.

I found that the multi-modality approach to my skin’s needs has made a world of difference, but the fractional laser is where I really began to see the transformation.

After the second treatment on my face, I could literally feel my face tightening and after the fourth treatment, my acne scars started to diminish. Although I have achieved the results I was looking for, I understand the importance of upkeep and maintenance. Along with my daily skin regimen, I continue the fractional lasers, daily sunscreen use, and quarterly Dysport treatments.

Aging is a fact of life, but looking your age doesn’t have to be.
