What is laser leg vein removal?

Laser leg vein removal is also known as vein coagulation therapy. Using the Palomar ICON 1064 laser, the vessels collapse and are closed off by coagulating the blood present within them.

What are the differences between spider veins and reticular veins?

Spider veins are painless, very small vessels (single or clustered) that are reddish in color near the surface of the skin. Reticular veins are painless, small to moderately sized vessels that are blueish in color.

My friend says I have varicose veins. What are varicose veins, and can laser therapy help?

Varicose veins are large, bulging veins that are usually painful. They occur for various reasons such as increased pressure on the vascular walls and weakening of the vessels over time. This can occur in pregnancy, various medical conditions, and cardiovascular conditions, or simply from just standing and walking for long hours at a time.

Varicose veins are not ideal for laser coagulation therapy and do not yield good aesthetic results, but usually most clients who have varicose veins also have issues with associated spider veins, which can be easily treated with laser vein removal. A medical provider is available to do a free consultation to ensure that you get the best results.

How can I achieve the quickest best results with laser leg vein removal?

Here are a few things to avoid prior to your appointment for best results: avoid supplements and medications that may thin your blood for 1 week, irritants such as glycolic/salicylic acids or astringents etcetera for 1 week, self-tanners/tanning/unprotected sun exposure for 2 weeks before your treatment.

After your treatment, please avoid activities that increase vascular pressure in the legs such as exercising, wearing high heels, airplanes, scuba diving, etc for at least 3 days. It is advised to bring compression stockings or spanx to wear after your treatments for a few days to prevent the veins from reopening while healing. Also avoid irritants and blood thinning supplements, aspirin, and other medications that may thin your blood for at least 1 week. Never stop prescription medications without speaking with your prescribing physician.
